Nielsen released data on the most-streamed shows in 2023, and "Suits" came out on top. The analytics firm released its fourth annual end-of-year streaming report, detailing the top television series and movies on streaming platforms in 2023. "Bluey" on Disney+ (43.9 billion), "NCIS" on Netflix and Paramount+ (39.4 billion), "Grey's Anatomy" on Netflix (38.6 billion), and "Cocomelon" on Netflix (36.3 billion) round out the top five. Read previewCash-hungry entertainment studios are back in the content licensing game, sending their valuable shows like HBO's "Sex and the City" and Disney's "Grey's Anatomy" back to Netflix. Licensing has historically been a mainstay of entertainment companies, except for a brief period when many hoarded content while they built up their own streaming services. "It's the future," said Dan Cohen, the chief content licensing officer at Paramount. Netflix and other entertainment companies that sought full ownership of content as they built up their streaming services are now becoming more agnostic about it. But, for now, the major entertainment companies don't have much of a choice.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Emmy Awards telecast on Fox reached a record low audience of 4.3 million viewers, as the long-term trend of diminishing ratings for the show continues. That show, which honored both TV and movies and had bigger stars in attendance including Taylor Swift, had 9.4 million viewers. The height-of-the-pandemic Emmys in 2020 on ABC, with no in-person audience and remote nominees, set a new low at the time with 6.1 million viewers, but the show bounced back the following year with 7.4 million for CBS. The last time the Emmys reached more than 10 million viewers was 2018, when it drew in 10.2 million. The show had 21.8 million viewers in 2000, a level it's unlikely ever to reach again.

“They were talking about a fellow student, and how she was so annoying because she’s a total ‘pick-me girl,’” the Florida mother of two said. Who are the ‘pick-me’ girls? Social media memes mock pick-me girls with lines like “‘I’ll have pizza, not like my friends who only eat salad,’ and ‘I like baking cookies. “Having people throw it on TikTok as a meme makes the situation that much worse, for girls being accused of being pick-me girls,” she said. “If you do like sports or sitting around with the guys and drinking beer, it puts you in this double bind where being yourself makes you a pick-me girl,” she said.

"Back in the late '90s, it used to be kind of a rarity to get a tiny residual check," actor John O'Brien said. In today's streaming-TV era, small residual checks have become so customary that they helped push the SAG-AFTRA actors union to go on strike in mid-July, joining film and television writers, who walked off the job in May, in part over residual payments. O'Brien, who has appeared on dozens of shows, from "Grey's Anatomy" to "Pretty Little Liars," shared images of residual checks from more than two decades ago worth $47.49, $87.77 and $216.25. For working class actors who were not the famous, highly paid stars, the residual checks were vital to helping them pay their bills. Lower residual payments mean fewer actors earn the $26,470 per year needed to qualify for SAG-AFTRA's health insurance coverage, said actor Michael Spellman.

The scammer networks operate fake trading platforms that look "exactly the way they should look," Friedman told CNBC. When pressed, Kaimi told Mike about his financial difficulties, stemming from past credit-card debt. "I thought I was someone who knew when they were being scammed, was able to discern things," Kaimi told CNBC. But when Kaimi told Mike he was planning to withdraw his funds, the penny dropped.
Debra Jo Rupp has appeared in many fan-favorite shows, like 'Friends,' and 'Grey's Anatomy.' Rupp says the worst moment of her career was in 90s LA, where she auditioned for a major producer. But in a recent interview with Chicago Tribune, Rupp opened up about the worst moment of her career — auditioning for "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Charmed" producer Aaron Spelling. The show apparently never made it to air, but Rupp remembers the audition experience to this day. When she came back for the second audition, this time with Aaron Spelling in the room, Rupp says she had an experience that she now recalls as the worst moment in her career.
